3. Laying Off

Players can add cards to their own melds or to those of other players to extend them. This action is known as “laying off.” For instance, if there is a meld of three 5s on the table, a player can add another 5 or a joker to it.

4. Discarding

At the end of their turn, players must discard one card to the discard pile, except when they are “going out.” This ends the player’s turn and signals the next player to draw.

5. Going Out

A round ends when a player “goes out,” meaning they have no cards left in their hand. The player must lay down all their remaining cards, either by forming new melds or by laying off cards on existing melds. Players can also “go out” by discarding their final card after laying down all other cards.

Scoring

At the end of each round, players calculate their scores:

  1. Positive Points:
    • Points are scored based on the value of the cards laid down in melds.
    • Card values are as follows:
      • Number cards (2-9): Face value.
      • Face cards (King, Queen, Jack): 10 points each.
      • Aces: 15 points each (if used high) or 1 point (if used low in a run).
      • Jokers: 15 points each.
  2. Negative Points:
    • Players also deduct the value of the cards left in their hands at the end of the round from their score. The point values are the same as those for melded cards.
